For visitors
Getting around Trinidad and Tobago
A plain guide to the ways people move around the two islands, and how a TakeMeThere ride fits in when you want to see your fare before you get in.
Your options on the ground
Street and stand taxis
Agree the fare with the driver before you set off, and confirm it again if the route changes.
Coloured-band minibuses
Maxi taxis run fixed routes, identified by the colour of the band along the side. You pay in cash, and the ride is shared with other passengers.
Public buses
Public buses serve many routes, with a lot of services leaving from City Gate in Port of Spain. Check the route and timing locally before you rely on it.
Port of Spain to San Fernando
A water taxi links Port of Spain and San Fernando. Check the current schedule before you plan around it.
Ferry or short flight
Most visitors reach Tobago by sea ferry or by a short flight from Trinidad.
A TakeMeThere ride

What you see before you get in
Before you get in, the app shows you your driver's name, vehicle, plate and rating, plus a live ETA countdown that uses current traffic. Drivers have their identity, documents and vehicle checked before their first trip. Match the plate and vehicle before you open the door.
If something feels wrong
Every active ride has an SOS button. You can call police or ambulance, text your emergency contact with your location, or contact support. Set your emergency contact in Profile before your first ride. Read more on the safety page.
Trinidad and Tobago are different
Trinidad is the larger island, with most of the people, the main airport and the busiest roads. Tobago is quieter and smaller. In Tobago, rides are available where drivers are online near you, so check the app for a driver before you plan around it, and have a back-up such as a taxi from your hotel.
